Investment Decision

Lab42 worked with a Venture Capital firm to survey bookstore shoppers in order to help guide the VC's investment decision.

  • Client - Venture Capital firm
  • Target market - Individuals who have shopped at a brick-and-mortar bookstore within the past three months and geo-located within a handful US states
  • Number of Respondents -  218

Problem

The client was in the preliminary stages of due diligence for a possible investment in a major book retailer. Because the majority of the stores were located in specific but widespread areas of the United States, our client had trouble gaining quick consumer insights from the retailer’s target market.

Solution

Lab42 constructed a survey for the firm that allowed them to obtain qualitative and quantitative feedback from the retailer’s target market. We geo-targeted the survey to certain states, and only to those who have shopped at a physical bookstore within the past three months.

Results

We gathered a total of 200 qualified respondents for this survey in only three business days, then summarized the report and provided it directly to our client, who shared with his venture capital team. Our client had positive feedback that the insights would certainly help them make a more confident investment decision. There is no word on investment at this time.
